Our Club
Darling Point Sailing Squadron (DPSS) is an affordable friendly family-oriented sailing club situated on Waterloo Bay in Manly Harbour, Queensland, catering for a range of off-the-beach dinghies and skiffs. Youngsters are encouraged to progress through the ranks from Sabots, to intermediate classes, then on to skiffs.
DPSS, which has been in operation for over 80 years, is a long-standing sailing club of the Wynnum-Manly area. The club originated in 1927 when it was known as the Imperial Junior Sailing Club was formed. In 1930, that club was renamed "The Darling Point 10ft Flying Squadron". The present clubhouse was moved from Darling Point to its present site in 1978.
DPSS sails regularly on Sundays throughout the summer season from September to April and monthly during the winter. The club provides its facilities to community groups and schools such as Sailability, Sails of Bayside and Brisbane Boys’ College who require safe access to Waterloo Bay. Brisbane 18 Footers use our club for Saturday races and Multihull Yacht Club Qld meets frequently in the clubhouse. Offshore Marine Training Australia also uses our facilities to run RYA accredited courses on a regular basis.
DPSS holds general monthly meetings at 7:30pm on the second Monday of each month except in January in the clubhouse. During the summer season extra general meetings are held on Sunday mornings. These are outlined in our calendar.
