Courses

Darling Point Sailing Squadron (DPSS) is a volunteer-run club and a Yachting Australia (YA) accredited Discover Sailing Centre able to provide recognised Discover Sailing Courses which are run by the Senior Instructor and supported by instructors and assistant instructors. All instructors have Yachting Australia qualifications.

Find out more about the Yachting Australia Discover Sailing Program at this LINK.

At DPSS, we offer the following courses:

Tackers 1 - Having Fun and Tackers 2 - Tricks and Techniques

Tackers 1 - Having Fun is an introductory, fun, games-based sailing program designed for kids aged about 7 to 12 delivered over 7 Sunday mornings. Kids don’t need to have any sailing experience and they don’t have to be a member of our club to participate. All the equipment, including the boats and Life jackets, is provided. Kids play loads of games and go on adventures together to learn how to sail. Cost is $350 per child which includes a Tackers pack (shirt, water bottle, hat and sticker)

After completing Tackers 1, kids move onto a Tackers 2 - Tricks and Techniques course. If kids are confident, they can sail a boat on their own with lots of support, supervision and encouragement from the Instructor and Assistant Instructors. Cost is $320 per child for a 7 week course. For more information click this LINK.

Start Sailing 1 and 2

Start Sailing 1 and 2 are combined into a 6 session course for ages 12 to adult. Participants learn to sail in Vagabonds. This course is designed to provide a safe and enjoyable introduction to dinghy sailing for complete beginners. The course includes an introduction to fundamental boat handling skills and essential safety knowledge. Cost is $310 per student for a Start Sailing course held over 6 Sunday mornings. For more information click this LINK.
