At DPSS, we offer the following courses:
Tackers 1 - Having Fun and Tackers 2 - Tricks and Techniques
Tackers 1 - Having Fun is an introductory, fun, games-based sailing program designed for kids aged about 7 to 12 delivered over 7 sessions. Kids don’t need to have any sailing experience and they don’t have to be a member of our club to participate. All the equipment, including the boats and Life jackets, is provided. Kids play loads of games and go on adventures together to learn how to sail. Cost is $330 per child which includes a tackers pack (shirt, water bottle, hat and sticker)
After completing Tackers 1, kids move onto a Tackers 2 - Tricks and Techniques course. If kids are confident, they can sail a boat on their own with lots of support, supervision and encouragement from the Instructor and Assistant Instructors. Cost is $300 per child for a 7 week course. Start Sailing 1 and 2
Start Sailing 1 and 2 are combined into a 7 session course for ages 12 to adult. Participants learn to sail in Vagabonds. This course is designed to provide a safe and enjoyable introduction to dinghy sailing for complete beginners. The course includes an introduction to fundamental boat handling skills and essential safety knowledge. Cost is $300 per student for a Start Sailing course held over 7 Sunday mornings.
